How to Set Availability Exceptions in BakeSmart

There will be times when your bakery needs to operate on a different schedule—whether it’s a holiday, a one-off event, or a seasonal closure. The Availability Exceptions feature in BakeSmart allows you to override your standard store hours so your fulfillment options always reflect what’s actually available. Use this tool to close temporarily, shorten hours, or pause online ordering.

What Are Availability Exceptions?

Exceptions allow you to:

  • Fully close a store (e.g., Christmas Day)
  • Set limited hours (e.g., early closing on Christmas Eve)
  • Temporarily disable online orders (e.g., for Thanksgiving Day)
  • Apply exceptions to one or multiple locations

How to Add an Exception

  1. Go to the Settings menu
  2. In the menu on the left side of the Locations screen, click Exceptions (beneath the list of store locations)
  3. This will open the Exceptions Menu
  4. Click Add Exception and complete the following fields:
  5. Name – Use a clear, descriptive label (e.g., “Holiday – Thanksgiving”)
  6. Type – Choose either Single Day or Date Range
  7. Hours – Select Closed or Open with Custom Hours
  8. Apply To – Choose whether the exception applies to All Orders or eCommerce Only
  9. Select Locations – Pick one or more store locations where this exception should apply
  10. Click Save to finalize

Tips & Notes

Exceptions override normal Availability settings for the selected date(s)

Use this feature to manage company-wide closures or tailor hours for each location individually

When using Custom Hours, be ready to define opening and closing times for each affected day

💡 Pro Tip: Use clear labels like “Closed – New Year’s Day” or “eComm Only – Thanksgiving” to make it easy for staff to understand each entry.
