Exploring the Product Types view in BakeSmart

What Can Be Accessed

The Product Types View is one of the most important tools in BakeSmart for managing your product catalog. From this view, you can organize and review products by type, create categories, manage options lists, and see how your offerings are grouped for easier ordering, production, and reporting.

Layout and Navigation

To access the Product Types View:

Click on the Product Types tab in the left-hand menu of the Products Dashboard.

You’ll see a list of product types on the left side of the screen:

• Standard Products (default view)
• Custom Products
• Signature Products
• Product Bundles

Click on any product type in the list to view the associated products and categories.

Standard Products View

This section is all about your everyday, no-customization items—like muffins, cookies, bread, drinks, and other standard offerings.

In this view, you can:

• View Products by Category: Quickly see how your products are grouped.
• Add New Categories: Create categories to keep your catalog organized and current.
• Edit or Create Options Lists: Manage additional product details like sizes or flavors.
• Cycle Through Product Types: Use the left-hand list to switch between product types.

💡 Categories and Subcategories are crucial for organizing your catalog. Products can be assigned to multiple categories, but the first category is used for reporting. Categories can be created directly on the Product Details page or managed in the Product Types > Standard > Categories tab.

💡 Options (Option Lists) allow you to add flexibility to your Standard Products—like offering different sizes or add-ons. We’ll cover how to create and manage these Options Lists in a dedicated section later in this manual.

Visual Overview

Unlike the Product List View, which shows individual product entries, the Product Types View groups products by category for a more organized look. This helps you:

Spot gaps or duplicate products

Identify inconsistent category assignments

Make sure your catalog is clear and intuitive for staff and customers

Best Practices

Use clear, consistent category names that align with how your team and customers refer to items.

Review this view regularly to ensure your catalog is up to date and accurate.

Pair this view with the Product Details Menu to make sure product data is complete.
