Understanding and Using Minimum, Maximum, and Order Increments in BakeSmart
The Minimum Order, Maximum Order, and Order Increment settings in BakeSmart define how products can be ordered through your eCommerce store and the BakeSmart App.
These controls create structure around order quantities and ensure that online and in-app orders follow the rules you’ve set for each product.
Where to Find These Settings
All three fields are located under the Availability Tab when editing or creating a product.
To access:
- Go to Dashboard → Products
- Open an existing product or select + New Product
- Click the Availability Tab
- Locate:
- Minimum Order Quantity
- Order Increment
- Maximum Order Quantity
💡 Minimum Order Quantity and Order Increment apply to both the BakeSmart App and eCommerce, while Maximum Order Quantity applies to eCommerce only.
These settings do not affect orders placed directly in the POS.
What Each Field Controls
Minimum Order Quantity
Defines the smallest number of items that can be ordered through the BakeSmart App or eCommerce.
If an order attempts to go below this number, BakeSmart will require the user to meet the minimum before continuing.
Order Increment
Sets the step pattern for increasing quantities beyond the minimum.
When an increment is defined, quantities can only increase by that amount (for example, adding 6 more each time).
This helps maintain consistent ordering behavior across App and online orders.
Maximum Order Quantity
Specifies the largest number of units that can be ordered through eCommerce in one transaction.
This setting only impacts eCommerce orders and helps control large or bulk online order sizes.
How to Use These Settings
- Open the product and navigate to the Availability Tab.
- Enter a number in Minimum Order Quantity to set the smallest allowed order size.
- Enter a number in Order Increment to define how the quantity can increase beyond the minimum.
- Enter a number in Maximum Order Quantity to set a cap for eCommerce orders.
- Click SAVE when finished.
All values can be adjusted at any time, and changes take effect immediately after saving.
Examples
- Minimum Order Quantity: 6
Customers must order at least six of this product when ordering through the App or eCommerce.
Orders below six will not be accepted until the quantity meets the minimum. - Order Increment: 6
After the minimum is met, additional quantities can only be added in increments of six.
For example, customers can order 6, 12, 18, or 24. - Minimum Order Quantity: 6 / Order Increment: 1
Customers must order at least six, but may increase the quantity one at a time (6, 7, 8, 9…).
This allows for flexible ordering while maintaining a minimum threshold. - Maximum Order Quantity: 60
Customers can order up to 60 of this product through eCommerce.
Once the maximum is reached, additional quantities must be placed in a separate order.
This restriction applies only to eCommerce and does not impact orders entered in the App or POS.
Key Notes
- Minimum Order Quantity and Order Increment apply to App and eCommerce orders.
- Maximum Order Quantity applies to eCommerce only.
- These settings do not restrict POS orders.
- Each product can have its own combination of Minimum, Increment, and Maximum values.
- Edits can be made at any time and will apply immediately after saving.
