Exploring the Product List view in BakeSmart
What Can Be Accessed
The Product List View gives you a complete overview of every product in your catalog—organized by name and easily sortable by other fields like category, date created, and price. From this view, you can:
- Spot-check important product details
- Make quick edits to product names, categories, and prices
- Search and filter to find exactly what you need
- Access powerful bulk-editing tools for easier management
💡 This is the best way to quickly find and manage your products.
How the Product List View is Organized
In the Product List View, each product entry shows four key details:
- Name – The product name
- Primary Category – The first category assigned to the product
- Date Created – When the product was added to BakeSmart
- Price – The product’s price before tax
💡 These fields make it easy to spot-check important information at a glance.
By default, the list is sorted alphabetically by product name—starting with numbers like “1 dozen Bagels,” then moving from A–Z. You can change how products are organized by clicking any of the feature names at the top of the list (Name, Primary Category, Date Created, or Price).
To reverse the sort direction (e.g., A–Z to Z–A or oldest to newest), click the stacked arrow icon next to the feature name.
💡 Example: Click the stacked arrow next to Name to reverse the alphabetical order of your product list.
Navigating Pages
For larger catalogs, you can easily move between pages of the Product List View:
- Use the red arrow indicators to move right or left through the pages
- Use the drop-down menu to select a specific page number for faster navigation
Search and Filter Features
If you know what product you’re looking for, use the search bar at the top of the list to quickly find it by name.
You can also filter by category to narrow your search and focus on a specific product group.
💡 The Product List View makes it easy to visualize your products and keep your catalog organized and accurate.
Add New Products
From this view, you can also add new products directly:
Click the Add Product button to quickly create a new item without leaving the Product List View.
Edit All Products
The Edit All Products submenu is located on the left, directly under the Product List tab. This tool has two powerful pages:
Edit Categories:
- Quickly change a product’s primary category or add/remove secondary categories
- Use the drop-down feature to sort products by existing categories
- Use the series of drop-down menus to adjust categories as needed
- Products remain listed alphabetically by default for easier updates
Edit Taxes:
Update product tax status (taxable or not taxable) by location
This menu requires choosing a specific location because tax laws can vary
💡 Be careful: Double-check location-specific tax requirements before making changes to ensure you’re compliant with local rules.
Naming Tip for Organization
When product names start with numbers instead of words, they’re sorted separately in the list under numeric order. This can split up similar items and make them harder to find. To keep similar products grouped together, start their names with the same word—like “Bagel” for all your bagel varieties.
Not grouped together:
1 Dozen Bagels
1/2 Dozen Bagels
Grouped together:
Bagel – Dozen
Bagel – 1/2 Dozen
Renaming your products like this makes it easier for your team to find, search, and update them in BakeSmart!
